| Collected together, this trilogy chronicles the epic saga of the Corleone family’s rise and fall at a turning point for the American Mafia. The original film focuses on Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), who runs his family with old-fashioned values of honor, justice, and community; his refusal to give in to less honorable influences in the business may spell doom for the once-strong family. “Part II” travels back and forth in time between the young Vito (Robert De Niro) taking his first steps into organized crime, and his son Michael (Al Pacino) expanding the Corleone empire in ways his father only dreamed of. “Part III” revisits Michael in his final decline, attempting to wash his family’s hands of the criminal element only to watch it all slip away at the hands of the greedy and the dishonorable. |
